Kosta Karakashyan is a Bulgarian director, choreographer and dancer pursuing a B.A. in Dance at Columbia University. He has performed and choreographed on Dancing With the Stars in Vietnam as the youngest professional dancer on the show, on board MS Color Fantasy in Norway and is a two-time Bulgarian National Ballroom Champion. In New York, Kosta performed works by Chase Brock, Sasha Waltz, Ori Flomin and Shannon Gillen (VIM VIGOR) while writing, directing and choreographing films and music videos through his creative agency Studio Karakashyan. His recent works include music videos for artists such as Bettan (Sweden) and Acrillics (New Zealand) and the documentary dance film Waiting for Color, aiming to raise awareness about the ongoing LGBTQ+ persecution in the Chechen region of Russia. Kosta is excited to choreograph for CBC, and will also be choreographing an evening-length work for Columbia’s CoLab Performing Arts Collective this coming spring.
