Allegra Herman is a contemporary dancer based in New York City majoring in French Language and Literature at Columbia University. She began training in ballet at the age of 6 at both Manhattan Youth Ballet and the School of American Ballet where she performed in numerous productions with New York City Ballet. She is a graduate of LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts where she majored in drama. Currently, Allegra is a member of contemporary companies OUI DANSE and Trainor Dance under artistic directors Brice Mousset and Caitlin Trainor respectively. Allegra has attended the Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive (2012, 2014) and Springboard Danse Montreal (2015, 2016) where she performed repertoire by Crystal Pite, Roy Assaf, Fernando Melo, and Peter Chu among others. She was honored to perform with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet in their 2015 Nutcracker season. Allegra is a proud recipient of a New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award. She is very excited to choreograph a new work for CBC this season as part of her senior year.
